Only one osmosis stage is not enough to produce water with a high degree of demineralization, such as ultrapure water, with conductivity lower than 0,1 µS/cm.
To reach this goal it is necessary to make consequent phases of demineralization:
- First stage: first osmosis pass
- Second stage: second osmosis pass on the permeate produced in the first pass
- Third stage: ion exchange, with mixed bed resins
This kind of system, even though being composed of different elements, is extremely compact and easily manageable.
